Joining APS

Joining APS to Submit an Abstract

• Join APS online.
• Membership numbers will be emailed to you within 24 hours.
• To submit an abstract before receiving your member number, enter "membership pending" in the abstract special instructions field.
• Membership will be verified after submission.

Submitting Your Abstract

Abstract Length
Abstract character count includes title, authors, affiliations, spaces, titlenotes, and footnotes.

• Contributed abstract limit is 1300 characters.
• Invited abstract limit is 2000 characters.

Online Web Submission Process
To speed up the submission process, have ready:

• Number and order of authors and collaborators
• Draft of the abstract body
• Sorting Category or Focus Topic (if applicable)
• Whether you want to use LaTeX format or Microsoft Word Submission (RTF) template.

Submitting a Test Abstract
New users should submit a test abstract to familiarize themselves with the process. 

1. Go to the Abstract Submission website.
2. Click Start Abstract Submission.
3. Check Test Meeting (IT05) at the bottom of the list.
4. Follow the directions to create your test abstract.

Submitting the Final Abstract
Instructions on the Abstract Submission website explain the process.

1. Go to the Abstract Submission website.
2. Click Start Abstract Submission.
3. Check APS April Meeting 2010.
4. Check LaTeX format or Word Submission (RTF).
5. Carefully follow instructions on each web page.
