Background:- He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Chicago (AB 1952, SB 1954) with additional studies at Christ's College, Cambridge University
- He completed his graduate studies at the University of Illinois (MS 1956) and the Florida State University (Ph. D. 1959)
- During graduate school, he worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and upon graduation joined the Ford Motor Company’s Aeronutronic Division. Other employment until 1968 included General Research Corporation and EG&G (1967-68). In 1968, he founded Science Spectrum, Inc. his first entrepreneurial venture focused on BW defense and food quality. That firm closed in 1982 at which time he founded Wyatt Technology Corporation where he continues as its CEO.
- His scientific endeavors continue with his direction of the firm’s ongoing research, development and manufacturing in the field of analytical instrumentation with particular attention to the study and measurement of protein interactions, nanoparticle structure, drug development and delivery, and biodefense.
