Wade Schoppa

Wade Schoppa
Shell

Citation:

"For his studies on the generation of coherent structures in near-wall turbulence."

Background:

A native of Texas, Dr. Schoppa attended the Univ. of Houston for his undergraduate studies, earning a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1991 with summa cum laude honors. Subsequently, he pursued graduate studies under Prof. Fazle Hussain at the UH Aerodynamics & Turbulence Lab. His Masters Thesis, addressing a new mechanism of turbulence transition in a mixing layer, was published in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics. Doctoral studies focused on the mechanisms of turbulence production and drag generation in near-wall turbulence, completed in 2002 and culminating in publications in the Physics of Fluids and Journal of Fluid Mechanics. Upon completion of his doctoral degree, Dr. Schoppa joined Shell Global Solutions as a senior reserach engineer at the Shell Westhollow Research Center, currently focusing on multiphase flow prediction for oil and gas production systems.
